The latest noteworthy stupidity...
Jeez, it’s been a while.  I’m hoping to post more, more often.  I’m in good spirits today and not particularly angry about anything in particular.  Of course we’re in the thick of political season so there’s plenty of cannon fodder.  My latest favorite is from Megadeth   Dave Mustaine who during a concert August 7 in Singapore stated that President Obama was behind...

family
Of course it goes without saying that my immediate family are wonderful, but lately I’ve been enjoying the company of my sister, her hubby and my niece, who is going to Romania for an archeological dig.  ROMANIA!   I hope she has a great trip with lots to tell when she returns in August.

Skunked
Hey, did I mention Minnie (one of our aussies) was skunked.  Always happens at night.  Duh!  After I cleaned her up (in the driveway at 10:30PM) she was off to the groomer for a professional deodorizing.  That almost worked but the smell still lingers.   At any rate, this prodded us to send all three to the groomer.  3 beautiful girls all at the same time!  Groomed within a week.  This has got to...

Consumerism and food
More and more health experts advise eliminating processed foods in our diets.  The center isles of the supermarket.  I for one am guilty of purchasing (and eating) these foods at times but for the most part have given them up.  Anything edible that has a shelf life of a month or two can’t be good.  So, lately I’ve given up convenience for health.  Going to the market more often, buying...

Certificates & stupidity
As President Obama has officially released his “long form”” birth certificate it’s curious why so many american have sipped the Kool-aid.  In an article from CNN (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42779923/ns/politics-white_house/) it states… “In recent weeks,  public opinion polls have shown a striking number of Americans, especially Republicans, who said they could...

Adopt
I have three dogs, of which two were adopted locally.  Neither of them were 100% when we first took them in.  With a lot of work and kindness (ye folks, it takes time to be a responsible owner and have animals that are obedient) both Roxie and Minnie have come a long way.  Today, there are a multitude of rescues with every breed you can think of.  But many shelters are “kill shelters”...

Boardwalk
Venice was great yesterday  I hadn’t been there in forever and Patti had never been.  NEVER BEEN.  Needless to say we both had a great time strolling the boardwalk, eating, drinking and being merry.  Can’t wait to get back.  There is really no place quite like it.  A great mix of foods, attitudes and people, co-mingling in an artful, beachy, wide openly liberal environment. ...

Success
It’s interesting how we define success.  Monetarily we reward those who spend little time with their families (if they have any) and devote the majority of their time to work.  Those who go home at night, take vacations (without the office in their back pocket), take kids to the orthodontist and spend time with family & friends are often over looked when raises & promotions come and...

A Consideration
This morning I was listening to “This American Life” on NPR.  A portion of the show addressed race, DNA & genealogy.  I found it intriguing that a man living in California, a black man was able to purchase and use a self administered DNA test that once completed would be sent to a lab where percentages of an individual’s race would be discovered.  When the results came back the...

Appropriations
It’s always interesting to me that the world community is for the most part quick to come to the aid of those who have suffered a catastrophic event.  Why is it then that times of peace little is done to better the lives of those who suffer?  Why is it we can offer immediate assistance to Haiti, Chile, Japan and the like (not that they don’t deserve it) while pretty much ignoring those...

Unbelievable
The show below (“Real Time With Bill Maher”)quotes that “The top 400 (four hundred) people in the United States make more money than the other 150,000,000 (One hundred fifty million) combined. And there’s no money for schools, planned parenthood, NPR & Public Television, The Arts and Social welfare programs because we gave these people (the 400) a tax break…...

Life's good
Aside from the tragedy unfolding in Japan things are pretty good with me.  Patti’s home.  In fact, I thought she was taking the day off today to prepare for her show but alas, she is not.  Hey, at least I have her for the morning.  She’s being coiffed as we speak.  Nice.  I figure I’ll step out later for a manicure.  I need one after this week, especially if I’m going to be...

For the past couple of days I’ve been criss-crossing the city, from Santa Monica & the West Side to Woodland Hills, South Central, the Airport and everything in-between.  Fortunately I had a driver, Tom which made the trek far easier and much more enjoyable.  Thanks Tom. As we traveled, by both freeway and surface streets (and my being a passenger) I had the opportunity to kick back,...

Stormy Monday
Boy I’ll tell you I haven’t had a Monday this good for a long long time.  It had the potential to start out bad with the drizzle sufficiently wetting the streets and freeways to wreak havoc… but no.  Most people and I emphasize most (there’s always a couple of assholes out there) drove responsibly and considerately.  Amazing!  Got to work got A LOT of stuff done without...
